POMix™ Stock Processor
The approach to a paper machine can have a number of feed sources that need thorough blending prior to the forming section. This is where the POMix stock processor system fits in: it is a compact, patented mixing solution that replaces conventional large mixing chests and machine chests while providing a uniform feed to the paper machine. This efficient alternative is best suited for mills with frequent grade changes or colored papers.
An approach POMix system uses an initial blending tube or mixing tank to pre-blend multiple fiber sources and wet end additives prior to entering the high-shear mixing zone. In the main mixing tank, there is macro volumetric mixing combined with high-intensity micro level mixing in one or multiple stages to handle any furnish complexity. This approach to stock processing eliminates the typical large tank volumes and is a "just-in-time" approach to feeding the paper machine. If you deal with frequent grade changes, this compact unit is the only stock processor to consider, with most mills claiming an 80-90% reduction in off-grade paper and a more stable operation with less slime build up.
Responsiveness is achieved by having a small volume and by locating the stock processor close to the paper machine. Stability is achieved by providing uniform feeds and innovative controls before, during, and after the POMix. High-intensity mixing, optimal mixing patterns, the use of state-of-the-art consistency transmitters, and proven dry-stock control strategies are all employed, while the use of a traditional stuff box is avoided.
